Tips on what to do in May on Zakynthos Island

Kampi Village

Kampi is a village on the western side of Zakynthos, surrounded by green olive trees with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Fokia.

When you'll be satisfied with your photos, you can stop there for a while and have a look at the traditional square with the old houses.

The view from the height of 300 metres (Kampi is situated on the edge of a cliff) is impressive, especially when the sun sets. A huge cross stands there in honour of the victims during the civil war and a bit further a Mycenaean cemetery is situated. The gulf of Fokia (seal) was named after the seals that come every year in the caves.

After this it's time for dinner with a view! The ''tavern of Pappa'' serves excellent food. From this tavern you will spend some time to admire the panoramic view of the Ionian sea. During sunset the sky is painted with light colours while the sun 'dives' into the horizon.

Tip! At the tavern of Pappa, you should try and reserve table 33, from where you will have the best view of the sea and the sunset of the whole tavern!

After the sun has set and you have enjoyed your dinner, you should make your last stop for the day at: Bochali Hill.

Bochali Hill

This is the hill above Zakynthos Town, from which you have a panoramic view over Zakynthos Town and its port, Laganas Gulf, Vasilikos and even the Peloponese. Especially at nighttime this view is amazing.
If you're not too full, have a seat and treat yourself with a traditional Zakynthian sweet called "Frigania" from one of the cafes in Bochali!

Zakynthos Town

The capital of Zakynthos island!

Zakynthos is a busy town with a wide choice of dining or entertainment and a great variety of cultural attractions on offer. It is worthwhile visiting the Vergiagio Folklore Museum, the statue of Dionysios Solomos in Solomos square, the church of Agios Dionysios (saint Dennis) the protector saint of the island and Saint Markos Square with the Venetian style clock.

Also don’t miss the busy Saint Mark square, ideal for a walk in the afternoon or in the evening. Here is the buzz of Zakynthos town where you will find a lot of locals on their afternoons/ evenings out. There are lots of cafes to have some coffee, restaurants to have dinner and shops to buy your souvenirs. The most popular cafes are 'Base' and 'Avant' situated opposite each other. Both of them are preferred by the younger people.

Navagio (Shipwreck)

Navagio is the most famous zakynthian beach and one of the most beautiful beaches all over the world.

Navagio is a beach of unique beauty as it combines the dark blue sea water with a rocky scenery and golden sand. The world famous zakynthian sight is one of the most beautiful beaches around the world, already seen by thousands of tourists. You can visit Navagio beach by boat or see it from above. The panoramic view is breathtaking.

Keri Village

This is a special place to enjoy a romantic dinner together with the view of the setting sun.

Keri is located on the southern part of Zakynthos! The light house of Keri is a tower of 9 metres high. The access is very easy by car. From this point you will enjoy one of the most magical sunsets in the Ionian Islands. In Marathias you will also find the tavern “Votsalo” that serves homemade traditional dishes cooked with local products.
